Online planning application system launched by Mayo County Council

Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government John Gormley officially launched Mayo County Council’s online planning application submission system this week. This makes Mayo the second local authority after Dublin City Council to offer this eGovernment service which is a significant addition to their current suite of online tools.

‘Blatant inconsistencies’ in planning — Durcan

Mayo County Council should increase its services — Flynn

In a discussion surrounding Mayo County Council’s corporate plan, which spans a five year period from 2010 to 2014, Fine Gael councillor Peter Flynn suggested that the council should increase its range of services, due to the scaling back of other government agencies, with Mayo County Council taking on these additional services so everything is dealt with “under one umbrella”.

Planning SPC to keep a close eye on new planning bill

The planning and economic development SPC of Mayo County Council will have to keep a close eye on the new planning bill that is passing through the Oireachtas at the moment. The bill caused a lot of concern for the members of Mayo County Council at their monthly meeting the previous week when it was raised and the members of the SPC expressed similar concerns.

During Monday afternoon’s county council meeting, councillors vented their anger at the Planning and Development (Amendment) Bill 2009 which is being debated at present in the Dáil.
